Atkins-Johnson Farm
Referred to as the "AJ Farm" because of the prior owners, the Atkins and Johnson
families, the home was purchased by the City in 2005. In August, a team of local citizens and historians
was gathered to look at potential uses for the property, and to research funding mechanisms for its
restoration.
Although the house is in good shape for its age, there are some repairs needed. Just
prior to the ownership change, some of the fixtures were unfortunately swiped by vandals, but
since that time, the home has been secured. One of the most lovely decorative items, a hand-painted
porcelain chandelier, was replaced with an exact duplicate as found in the home.
As the project proceeds, more information will be available.
