PURPOSE

Working in cooperation with the Gladstone Department of Economic Development, the Gladstone 

Economic Betterment Council and local lending institutions, the GCDC will bring forward positive 

change for the commercial thoroughfares of Gladstone.  Improved aesthetics have an overall effect on 

the economic welfare of the community by attracting more quality businesses and their patrons.

Many of the improvements funded through the GCDC are based upon the recommendations of the 

North Oak Corridor Study, performed by HNTB Architects, Engineers & Planners and approved by 

the City Council.  This study combined research with public input from the citizens, businesses and 

land owners of the City of Gladstone.  Additionally, the Gladstone Economic Development Plan 

included recommendations to improve the look of commercial business districts.
